Go back to XIII

At various stages in XIII you’ll need to bypass or, er, ‘disable’ innocent soldiers or guards who may be labouring under the misapprehension that you are the bad guy in all this. The preferred method seems to be walloping them over the head with a bottle, ashtray, or a chair, despite the fact that such a blow would probably fracture something quite important, like their skull. Anyway, here’s a rough guide to what you have to do.

1: The guard’s footsteps are represented on screen to help you keep a track of where he is. Once the ‘TAP’ text starts moving away from you, you know he’ll be facing the other way when you pop round the corner. We’ve already armed ourselves with a chair – there are plenty lying around (suddenly) during these sections.

2: There he is, the poor bugger. He doesn’t know what’s about to hit him.

3: Gently does it…

4: Ker-splat! Ignore his screams of pain, that didn’t really hurt at all.

5: He’ll be fine later.
